It's times like these that cause me to sit back and reflect. What would we be doing without Netflix right now? We'd all have to be suffering through day-time television. Thank goodness I am not being forced to watch either a midday talk show or soap opera. Also, this Easter Sunday is the opposite of ideal. It's quite sad to think we should be doing our usual Easter traditions, but are stuck inside due to weather and a casual global pandemic. I want to write a big, long letter to Netflix headquarters saying thank you. Thank you for keeping me occupied on days like these. And thank you for keeping me quite sane during quarantine. Since we all are collectively stuck inside with not much to do, and it's not just me being lazy by choice anymore, here are some of my most recent shows on Netflix that I have recently spent hours binge-watching. Dexter
Dexter is old, and if you are an adult, you may have even watched it live as it was being aired. However, I started watching it a few months ago and just now finished it. AMAZING. If you're a fan of any true crime shows, crime, drama, anything like that-- you HAVE to watch Dexter. It is so intriguing due to its unique plotline. Basically, this dude who works in forensics with Miami PD is a serial killer, but he only kills bad guys. It really makes you think about your morals because as the episodes go on, you never want him to get caught...but he is a killer too? It's truly insane. Warning: If you do not like blood or gore stuff, do not watch.
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness At this point, you've probably heard of the Tiger King. You've probably watched it too. It's being talked about everywhere. Everyone and their mothers have at least heard of this show. Memes of Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin are all over Facebook and Twitter. So, I'm probably not recommending anything new to you with this. I just thought I would add it to the mix because it is worth it. Totally worth all the hype it is getting. (P.S. Carole Baskin killed her husband)
All American All American just released Season 2 on Netflix. I never saw Season 1 until now because there has been so much buzz about the second season. I just started watching this show about a week ago, and I'm almost halfway through the second season already! It's such an easy show to binge-watch. Spencer James is a lower class dude in Crenshaw (L.A.) when he gets "recruited" to play for Beverly High School. With doing that, a lot more drama comes into his life, and everyone's around him. It's a great series to watch with the whole family too!
On My Block On My Block has three incredible seasons, the third one being just released on Netflix a month ago. It's kind of cheesy but in the best way. This show will have you laughing, stressed, and crying all within the same episode. It's about 4 high school kids who are trying to save one of them from joining the gang scene in L.A. They get into a lot of mischiefs while doing so. I watched the first and second season last year and waiting so long for the third season. It's finally here! And it's definitely worth watching.
Elite Elite is ELITE when it comes to Netflix series. It was created with Netflix Spain and consist of Spanish actors and actresses-- it is a Spanish show. You can watch it with English voiceover, but it looks so weird because their mouths and the words being said are way off. I watched it just with subtitles, and it was fine! If that bothers you, then don't watch it. You are missing out, though. It's so action-packed and keeps you on your seat the whole time. The direction of the show truly adds so much value to it; it wouldn't be as suspenseful if it had any different structure. To sum it up, crazy stuff keeps happening to these rich, private school kids. It sounds basic, but it isn't. Not to mention, the men in the show are very pleasing to look at. (They are hot.) Might as well stop reading this and go watch it RIGHT NOW!
I am not okay with this. This show is a masterpiece. Honestly, I was kind of skeptical when I first saw the trailer for it on Netflix a few weeks ago. It's about your cliché, weird, the outcast girl who struggles with her identity and then finds out she has some kind of power. It gave me too many Stranger-Things-vibes. But, after I got so bored one day, I watched it and then was hooked. It's only seven episodes, and each episode is about 20-30 minutes. I literally finished the whole first season in one day. It took no time. Of course, now I have to wait at least a year for the next season to come out. However, if you watch it for any reason, at least let the reason be for the character of Stanley Barber. That character makes the whole show worth watching. He is the reason I changed my mind from my first impression. He isn't attractive or anything, just such a kind, lovable character. 10/10 for Stanley. Go check him out.
